Capital&Centric reveal full line-up for The Littlewoods Film & Food Fest
Social impact developers Capital&Centric have revealed the full line-up for their Littlewoods Film & Food Fest – the massive charity event planned for Saturday 15th July. The festival is set to take place in The Depot, Liverpool Film Office’s sound stages that neighbour the iconic 1930s Littlewoods site.
Perfect for a family day out, the one-off fundraiser will feature films, food, beats and treats to celebrate the kick off of The Littlewoods Project, which will ultimately bring new studio spaces; workspaces and workshops for the TV and film industry to Liverpool; alongside a screening and performance zone that’s open to the public.
Film buffs will be in their element as the giant sound stages are brought to life with two special screenings which will appeal to little ones and grown-ups alike. In the afternoon the magnificent ‘Matilda the Musical’ will screen at 1pm (Doors 12pm) and later, the epic ‘The Batman’ will screen at 7pm (Doors 6pm).
Visitors can expect:
Fabulous family-friendly (and vegan) face painting and tattoos
All the fun of the fair with traditional fairground style games
Mini golf action for the more competitive
Tunes from DJs Jimmy the Gent and Tomm Thomas
Foodies will not be disappointed with a top-notch range of street food vendors. Chow down on Vietnamese inspired dumplings from the one and only Oi Dumplings, who were recently crowned winners of the northern heats of this year’s British Street Food Awards.
You can also expect big flavours on loaded hotdogs from conscious kitchen, Mama Sue’s, bringing northern bangers on freshly baked rolls, smothered in the days’ selection of awesome toppings. And Wayne, the School Bus Bar – an iconic yellow school bus from the US, converted into an epic American diner and bar – providing the drinks from day into night.
Tickets are just £5 and include free popcorn. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Unity Youth and Community Centre based on Dove Street in Liverpool, so you can enjoy your day whilst also doing you bit for the local community. Tickets are now available to book here.
John Moffat, Joint Managing Director at Capital&Centric, said:
“The Littlewoods Film & Food Fest will be a real celebration of how far the city has come in establishing itself as a British success story when it comes to international film and TV production.
“We’ve brought together two great film screenings, entertainment and some of the best street food vendors, so we hope people head down for a great time with their mates and family and help raise money for a worthy local cause.
“It’s all about giving people a taste of things to come at the Littlewoods Project whilst we work on the detailed plan and gear up for getting going on site later this year.”
Capital&Centric are currently running a month-long consultation on the £70 million repurposing of the whole former Littlewoods site. The consultation is still open and runs until Monday 17 July 2023, with everyone encouraged to head to www.thelittlewoodsproject.com to submit their comments online.
