Ancoats fave Cotton open new café bar at Capital&Centric’s Neptune Mill
Much loved Manchester indie café, Cotton, has opened its doors to a new brunch and bar spot this week at Capital&Centric’s Neptune Mill.
Famed for their banging selection of sarnies and organic coffee, the team have taken up a new space at the creative workspaces in the Piccadilly East neighbourhood.
The ground floor unit will provide a hang-out spot for businesses locating at the Grade II listed Neptune Mill – including social impact developer Capital&Centric who recently located their HQ there – and for the growing community of residents and businesses in this emerging part of the city.
As well as a laidback eatery during the day Cotton will open into the evening with a selection of beers and wines, perfect for an after work bev.
Original cast iron columns, timber and brick work will give off industrial vibes, with the spaces fully furnished with sustainable Scandi HAY furniture. The café bar will spill out onto the new public square currently being created with lush green planting, reminiscent of the developer’s award-winning Kampus garden neighbourhood.
Christopher Griffith, co-founder of Cotton, said:
“It's a real privilege to be partnering with an organisation like Capital&Centric where we share the same values in terms of sustainability, our social impact and passion for our local communities.
“In the ten years since we've been in Ancoats, we've become a hub for the local community and watched it transform around us. Now, a decade later, we're thrilled to be a part of the foundation of the exciting new neighbourhood of Piccadilly East. We will have an amazing range of breakfast and lunch treats along with bread and cakes from our very own bakery, with of course great coffee!
Tom Wilmot, joint managing director at Capital&Centric, said:
“It’s a massive coup to bring Cotton to Neptune Mill. They’ve deservedly earned a reputation for their amazing hand-made produce and we’re proud to add them as our in-house café.
“The Piccadilly East neighbourhood is growing and Cotton will bring much-needed amenity. The café-bar will be a central spot for residents and locals to grab coffee, lunch, or a post work drink. With seating spilling out onto the new public square it’s set to become a real hub for the Piccadilly East community.”
Neptune Mill is part of the developer’s wider mission to drive forward the Piccadilly East neighbourhood, previously named as one of the UK’s up and coming hotspots by the Sunday Times. It follows their award-winning restoration of a neighbouring Victorian mill, Crusader, as well as Phoenix, a character-filled new build apartment block in the city centre.
The hunt for new tenants at Neptune Mill is still on going, with the developer encouraging the city’s creatives to register their interest and get in touch via info@capitalandcentric.com or visit www.capitalandcentric.com/neptune-mill.
